A Statement From Natick is United in Support of the Muslim Community

In the spirit of our mission that everyone is welcomed here, we stand against the hatred that is at the root of the deadly shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.  We stand with the Muslim community there, as well as in our local community, and repudiate acts of violence against our Muslim neighbors across the world.

We encourage our members and supporters to assure our Muslim neighbors, who are still reeling from this attack, that they are safe in our community and outwardly extend acts of kindness in public places. In these times when we feel like the world is overrun with hatred and violence, we need to unite as one voice. We must focus on our common humanity and ensure that in our town, there is no room for hate of any kind.

In summary, we stand in support of respect and inclusion for all. We also stand in solidarity against the hatred of white supremacy. We grieve and condemn the violent attacks that have resulted from darkness and hatred, including these acts against Muslims in the mosques in Christchurch, African-American Christians in the AME Church in South Carolina, and on Jewish Americans at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Natick is United will be participating in a multi community vigil in solidarity with the Muslim community at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 at Town Hall in Wellesley. We hope that you can join us.
