Racial Justice Dialogue: Immigration and Border Related Issues

  • Common Street Spiritual Center 13 Common St. Natick, MA (map)

This meeting will be about the causes and effects of immigration, with stories from the border. We will share our understandings about immigration and learn if they are myths or facts.

Rolf is a regular RJD participant who went in a group with Pastor Rebecca Bourret to the border in Texas recently. They will both be sharing their experiences from this trip.

We will start by sharing our thoughts about what causes immigration and then hear from Rolf and Pastor Bourret about causes they know about. After their presentation with images and stories recorded during their trip, we will have a discussion that will include our own thoughts about immigration, discussing if they are myths or facts. We will brainstorm and see a list of ways we can make an impact and/or support immigration reform, and commit to doing at least one of them.

Rolf and Pastor Rebecca Bourret will be co-facilitating this meeting with Paul and Deb.
To help us be prepared for all participants, please register if you can come to this meeting and update it if your plans change; use our Meetup page (also go here to learn about our other events) or email the organizer (4change.resource@gmail.com).

Monthly meeting overview:
Please join in the conversation as we continue to get real about the problem of racism in our world, and move toward personal and collaborative action. Our Racial Justice Dialogues are opportunities to talk openly about racism and other forms of oppression in our society. Please join us to continue sharing our experiences, hopes and dreams about living in community beyond race. All are welcome.

- This group meets the first Saturday of each month...now in the Moon Room on the 2nd floor. Come in the side door off of School Street. The meeting topics come from votes done at meetings.

- Please let us know your needs so we can help make the event accessible for you. Note: there is a ramp near the main entrance, and an elevator available. The elevator is tricky so please arrange to meet one of us five minutes or so before the meeting so we can help.
