During the Covid-19/Coronavirus reality we are living with now, we are noticing anti-Asian discrimination (and xenophobia in general) getting worse (again). During this conversation, we will focus on how to be messengers of appreciation instead of participants promoting xenophobic hate rhetoric (or supporting it by being silent).
Our discussion questions:
1. What is something you appreciate about first generation immigrants (in general or a specific immigrant)?
2. Where/when have you personally experienced messages of hate showing up and how did you respond?
3. What could be better responses? (we will brainstorm together)
4. What are some public displays of support we could do?
5. In what ways could we act that would make changes systemically (against xenophobic hate rhetoric)?
Zoom (remote call) details are posted on our Meetup page.
All are welcome.
To help us be prepared for all participants, please register if you can come to this meeting and update it if your plans change; use our Meetup page (also to learn about our other events) or email the organizer (4change.resource@gmail.com).
Monthly meeting overview:
Please join in the conversation as we continue to get real about the problem of racism in our world, and move toward personal and collaborative action. Our Racial Justice Dialogues are opportunities to talk openly about racism and other forms of oppression in our society. This series is a part of Boston Knapsack Anti-Racism Group. Please join us to continue sharing our experiences, hopes and dreams about living in community beyond race. All are welcome.
